To start with, instant orthodontics, as its name implies, is a treatment offered by an orthodontic specialist that provides fast results. This treatment can provide many benefits to a patient. One of these benefits has something to do with time. This treatment, unlike other treatments, provides results in as little as two visits to an orthodontist.

Like other orthodontic appliances, this treatment is able to make a patient’s teeth straight and even. It can also make a patient’s teeth appear whiter. All of these benefits can be achieved without using braces. So you don’t have to wait for 6 to 12 months just to get the result you’re aiming for.

This orthodontic treatment may be performed on the upper teeth of the patient or it can be performed on both the upper and lower teeth. This is very beneficial for those who need treatment for both their lower and upper teeth.

Almost, if not all orthodontists can offer this type of treatment to their clients. And prices for this treatment can range from 10 to 12thousand dollars.  It may seem expensive, however, specialist may also offer third party financing in order to allow reasonable monthly payments.

Complications from this type of treatment are also uncommon. If incase a bacterial infection should follow the treatment, they can easily be treated with the use of antibiotics.

May 5th, 2010

Fresno is one of California’s largest cities. To be exact, it is the fifth largest city in California. It is said to be a home to strong neighborhoods, beautiful parks and quality educational facilities and schools. But with a city this big, it can be tough to find an ideal Fresno orthodontist. As you may already know, going to an orthodontic specialist is just as important as going to a dentist.

Now, in order to find an ideal orthodontist, first, you need to ask for referrals. This is most vital step in finding an orthodontist from Fresno. It will provide you with feedback from clients.

So, how do you get referrals?

Referrals may either be acquired through your family members, friends, neighbors, officemates and other people you trust. Ask the people you trust if they know an orthodontist. Also, try to ask what kind of treatment they had and how much it cost. Remember to write down the treatment and cost as they will be important basis in the future.

Referrals may also come from the internet. Most people think that it’s not safe to go to the internet for referrals. But the fact is that the internet can be a good place to find an ideal orthodontist, if you know where to look.

Now go to orthodontic forum sites and ask for people who are living in Fresno and ask them to give you the names of their orthodontists, what treatment they had and how much it cost. Remember to ask at least 10 people for referrals. Do not rely on just 1 person.

Now, on to the next step: compare each orthodontist by treatment type and cost. For example, compare all the referrals from people who went to an orthodontist for orthodontic headgear. If you do this, you will be able to find an orthodontist that provides effective treatments at low cost.

April 28th, 2010

Orthodontics and cosmetic orthodontics become a very popular field in dentistry these days. Today, more and more people are hoping to attain properly aligned teeth. But none of these would be possible if it weren’t for these two very important men who gave way to the birth of orthodontics. These two men are Pierre Fauchard and Ettiene Bourdet.

Pierre Fauchard is a French physician and is often regarded as the “father of modern dentistry”. In 1728, he wrote a book entitled “Le Chirurgien Dentiste” or “The Surgeon Dentist”, which was said to be a complete scientific description of dentistry.

“The Surgeon Dentist” was able to tackle about the basic oral anatomy and function. Here, Fauchard was also able to discuss the signs and symptoms of oral pathology. In his book, he was also able to teach operative methods for removing decay and restoring teeth. It also includes periodontal disease, replacement of missing teeth, tooth transplantation and of course, orthodontics. Fauchard also discussed the use of a horseshoe-like piece of metal that can expand the arch.

Ettiene Bourdet, a dentist to the king of France, is also a significant name in the field of orthodontics. In 1757, he introduced a book entitled “The Dentist’s Art”. In this book, Bourdet devoted one whole chapter to discussing tooth aligning treatment and the appliances used for assisting this treatment. Bourdet was also able to perfect Fauchard’s tooth aligning device in his book, as well as, the way to decrease tooth crowding by means of removing the premolars.

Both of these men’s contribution paved way for newer orthodontic appliances to emerge. For this reason, many dentists and orthodontists pay high respects to these two great men.

Benefits of Orthodontic Treatments of Today

Procedures in orthodontic, during the early years, were only performed on people who have malocclusions or misalignment of the teeth that causes other health problems. These days, procedures can be performed not only to eliminate health problems caused by malocclusions, they can also be performed in order to make a patient’s smile more attractive and to protect the patient’s smile.

During these early years, orthodontic methods like orthodontic retainer and braces were only performed on teenage boys and girls. But all these were changed due to the recent advancements made in orthodontic. These days, both adults and teenagers can get orthodontic procedures in order to have perfectly aligned teeth. There are even pediatric orthodontists around these days which can cater to the needs of those kids who are still not in their teenage years.

Many teenagers before also don’t like to get orthodontic braces because it makes them look geeky. Most teenagers with braces back then become social outcasts. So, instead of providing those teenagers with confidence, braces have become one of the reasons for low self-esteem.

But with the arrival of well designed orthodontic or dental braces, these all changed. Braces have now become a trend among the youth. Aside from the fact that a lot of teenagers these days have become aware of the advantages they can get from getting orthodontic treatment they also realized that they can use these braces to be trendy.

One of the major reasons why children, teenagers and adults don’t get orthodontic treatment back then is fear. Many people are afraid to go to a dentist or orthodontist. Back then, orthodontic procedures can get really painful. Thus, a lot of people back then, live their lives having misaligned teeth.

These days, technology was also able to find a way to get rid of this fear. Most, if not all of the orthodontic procedures available today are already painless. You won’t be able to feel a single pain during these procedures.

These days, you can have orthodontic treatments done in the least amount of time because newer machines paved way for faster installation of orthodontic appliances. Back then, you need to sit still for longer periods of time which can be very uncomforting.
